At the site of the 16th century Kongo mosque, situated 30 kms south of Kenya's old Arab seaport of Mombasa, lies Jacaranda Indian Ocean Beach Resort; overlooking the powder white sands of Diani Beach. Spaciously set amongst more than 25 secluded acres of swaying coconut palm groves and magnificent, old stoic Baobabs, this exclusive resort hideaway recreates the bygone opulence of the rich Sultans of Zanzibar, who once ruled Kenya, Swahili coastline.

 

Surrounding the grand Moorish style arches of the main building are scattered smaller, white washed, 'makuti' roofed structures of 100 airy deluxe clubrooms. All the double and twin bedded club rooms are tastefully appointed with local hand-carved furnishings and are filled with luxurious amenities. Each rooms has its own verandah, en-suite bathrooms with bath/shower and separate toilet, mini-bar, direct dial telephone, hair dryer and have the convenience of both air-conditioning and a central ceiling fan. The airy Spices Restaurant on the first floor, overlooking the ocean, specializes in a rich exotic pot-pourri of masterpieces from the shores of the Indian Ocean. The open air, informal Bahari Cove beach restaurant featuring shellfish and seafood ‘Swahili style’. A snack lunch menu is also available. Al fresco styled, pool-side patio restaurant “Open Terrace” serving a tropical breakfast buffet facing the ocean. There are three bars: The Sultans Lounge, Coconut Willy's and Bahari Beach Bar.

The hotel has a 200m free-form swimming pool in addition to 3 additional plunge pools scattered around the property. Other sport activities are two floodlit tennis courts, volleyball, croquet, boules, par jogging trail and bird watching. Resident musicians, entertainment during the day and evening at the Bahari cove, pianist plays every evening in the Sultan's Lounge whilst our resident band performs on the Ocean Terrace. On special occasions, Cabaret artist performs and visiting groups entertain during our special theme evenings.
